- Real base on clay soils
- Parkway limits apply
Base Is The Whole Job
Clay in Bixby Knolls and Los Cerritos swells and shrinks, while fill near the bay settles. Either one will roll a paver patio with a thin base. We dig it right the first time.
Rebate And Parkway Rules
Lawn to Garden allows permeable hardscape such as pavers on sand without mortar, up to 2 by 3 feet each. In the parkway, all nonliving material has to stay under half the area.
License Rule
State rule says any landscaping job of $1,000 or more in labor and materials needs a contractor license. Ask for the license number on your written estimate, and you can check any license at cslb.ca.gov.
Questions We Hear
Are pavers OK in a historic district?
Sometimes. City guidelines often favor concrete for original driveways and walkways. Ask the Historic Preservation office before you tear anything out.
